Jen-chien Lin is born in Taiwan in 1965. He studied guitar with Frank Koonce from 1996 to 1999 in Arizona State Univ. in USA from where he graduated with honors and distinction. Jen-chien has won several prime awards of guitar competitions: Taiwan Area Music Competition, National Guitar Contest in Taiwan, Abel Carlevaro Guitar Competition in Taipei as well as Charles Margesun Memorial Guitar Competition in Arizona. Also Jen-chien Lin has had three years of lessons with some maestros: Abel Carlevaro, Eduardo Fernandez and Eduardo Issac during his residence in Uruguay and Argentina from 1993 to 1996. The New England Conservatory professor David Leisner has written about him: "I was very impressed with your playing! You play with good technical facility, strong natural musicianship and emotional communication." There are also some quotations from Frank Koonce: " A very talented student and musical musician!" as well as the Father of Taiwan guitarist, Mr. Chuao-hsien Lu: " He really understands my music and did the best interpretation of my compositions".
